An access log is a thorough list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a particular site. Every file which was requested in some way shall be listed, so if you have just one page with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your site. The info which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a site, independent of the web statistics your server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Website Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are among them. Once you sign in to your website hosting account and visit this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your PC and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you no longer need one, you could stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our state-of-the-art web hosting platform shall generate access logs for every site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, as long as this function is activated. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed in the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we provide with all of the accounts, so if you'd like our system to start generating logs for any of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You could stop this function at any time by following the same steps. You will find a Download link for each and every log inside the same section of the Control Panel, so you may save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with no more than a mouse click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to see the data that's already been generated.
