Each and every desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, and any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. If a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we supply all three rather than only 1 because we realize that you might want to install some software which has specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software packages you can install on the server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you want to use one and that is why we offer several Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page as we want to give you a larger choice regarding the system environment on the server as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian include different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and safe Internet hosting service. Based on your decision, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected initially does not meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also upgrade your OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
