Each personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, along with any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server plans include three Linux distributions that you can select from for the Operating System of your new server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being totally free, the OSs are very stable and risk-free and the primary reason to offer the 3 of them is to ensure that you can run any kind of app that you would like, because different pieces of software could have different requirements about the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a huge community of developers who have made many hundreds of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to control your website hosting content. Also, in case you decide that you need a different OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to obtain one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the order page as we want to give you a broader choice for the system environment on your machine as different apps could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and safe web hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System in case the one you have selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also upgrade your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
